当地时间2024年12月29日，美国前总统卡特逝世，终年100岁。卡特担任总统期间的诸多外交成就中，最引人注目的当数推动中美建交。
忆及卡特，美国弗吉尼亚大学名誉教授雷朴实(Bruce Reynolds)在接受中新网采访时表示，卡特为人正直、聪颖，他训练有素，且做事尽心尽力，是一个以事实和分析做判断的人。
雷朴实指出，卡特一生都在倡导和平，始终坚信应该做正确的事，他的勇气有助于推动中美两国建交。卡特坚信，这些举措是正义之举。(薛凌桥)
Jimmy Carter, who served as the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981, died on Dec. 29, 2024, at the age of 100. Among Carter's many diplomatic achievements during his presidency, perhaps the most notable was promoting the establishment of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and China.
Recalling former U.S. president Jimmy Carter, Bruce Reynolds, a professor emeritus from the University of Virginia (UVA), told China News Network that Carter is a man of morality, intelligence. He is well-trained with committed attitude throughout his career. Besides, he is a man believed in facts and analysis.
Reynolds further pointed out that Carter is committed to making peace all his life and he is persisted in doing right things. He added that it is Carter’s courage that makes the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the U.S. and China possible, In the eyes of Carter making peace represents doing right things . 6月14日上午，水利部组织开展抗旱专题会商，分析研判华北黄淮等北方地区旱情形势，要求即日起，受旱地区上游黄河、海河、淮河流域的控制性水库全部进入抗旱调度模式，加大下泄流量，保障抗旱用水需求，确保城乡居民饮水安全，以及规模化养殖和大牲畜用水安全，全力保障灌区农作物时令灌溉用水。6月14日15时，水利部将针对河南、河北的干旱防御应急响应提升至三级，目前维持针对山西、江苏、安徽、山东、陕西、甘肃6省的干旱防御四级应急响应，并派出两个工作组正在一线指导抗旱工作。
据官网介绍，四川绵阳是我国重要国防军工和科研生产基地，邓稼先、于敏等9位“两弹一星”元勋和成千上万的科技精英在这里“干惊天动地事、做隐姓埋名人”。
去年以来，中国对多个国家单方面免签。截至目前，中方已经对法国、德国、意大利、荷兰、西班牙、瑞士、爱尔兰、匈牙利、奥地利、比利时、卢森堡等国施行单方面免签；还与泰国、新加坡、马来西亚、格鲁吉亚等国互免了签证。此前的6月13日，国务院总理李强在惠灵顿总督府同新西兰总理拉克森举行会谈。李强表示，将把新西兰纳入单方面免签国家范围，希望新方为中国公民赴新提供更多便利。
